Every complaint is an opportunity

The medical profession is perhaps the single most demanding yet fulfilling profession. Every service in this field is personalized and therefore it is up to the medical practitioners to ensure that their patients’ medical well-being is catered for in the best and safest way possible. However, medical service must be seen as an opportunity for both the patient and the doctor or nurse to operate in a diligent, transparent and cooperative manner in order to achieve the best possible result. Information disclosure between a patient and a medical practitioner is therefore paramount for the achievement of success. Most doctors are put off by ever-complaining patients who believe that it is only up to the doctor to ensure they recover, without acknowledging that their well-being is largely dependent on their cooperation with doctors and more so information disclosure.

As a doctor, there is no greater satisfaction I derive each day than when I see my patients smiling. On the flipside, there is nothing as crushing as a patient’s complains regarding a doctor and even claiming that they were cheated while in reality it was the patient’s ignorance that brought about their suffering. Such unfounded grievances can not only ruin a doctor’s reputation but at the end of the day they don’t help the patient either.

Written feedback is very helpful and could go a long way in promoting good health I have always told my patients; if you are happy with us, please tell the world! If you are not happy with us, please tell us so that we can fix the problem.
